Research Projects

Four directions I keep coming back to: mobility simulation, street-level microclimate, green space equity, and how the built environment shapes health and recovery.

Mobility · Simulation

Urban Air Mobility

A mixed-fleet air network built on existing regional airports saves over 20 minutes on 230,000 selected Bay Area trips.

Sky View Factor

Across 15,630 San Francisco images, sky view factor on the sidewalk averages 0.16 lower than at the roadway; in Los Angeles the gap is 0.093.

Urban Green Space

In Pittsburgh (2019–2022), more green space within a tract meant more visits, but more within the surrounding 500 m pulled visits down.

Urban Built Environment

Three studies on how the built environment shapes recovery, health, and wellbeing: post-COVID recovery in Nagoya, the health effects of bike-sharing in Shenzhen, and residents’ emotions read from Weibo posts in Beijing.
